WASH – Ensign College of Public Health to organize a course on water

The programme, scheduled to start from March 16 to 20 at the College’s campus in Kpong, would help communities to develop better water sanitation, create appropriate systems for managing water resources and waste in communities and improve public health.

Dr Stephen C. Alder, the Board member of Ensign College of Public Health, said this on Thursday in an interview with the Ghana News Agency at the inauguration of the College at Kpong.

He said the course would cover topics in hydrology, water and wastewater characteristics and treatment technologies, including fieldwork and site visits as well as laboratory experiences.

Dr Alder said the College had been accredited by the National Accreditation Board and affiliated to Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology to offer Masters of Public Health programme.

He said the College was geared toward developing high quality and sustainable training strategies to prepare public health leaders with a comprehensive understanding of health and the capacity to solve challenges of public health.

“It is expected that at the end of the course, participants would have a clear understanding of water and wastewater parameters, relationships with health as well as evaluate potential treatment technologies in the public health system,” Dr Alder said.
